The Andaman Rally Adventure Kayaking Cruise International
Special Offers
The Andaman Sea Rally will not take place in 2006 but our yachts are available for private charter to the Andaman Islands
This trip will be tailored to the guests' desires. Flexibility is one of our many strong points. Below is a sample only. We will work on alternative routes as well.
Day 1: Jan 5th
Board SY Chameleon in Phuket and take care of Immigration checkout requirements. You'll enjoy an easy paddle in the afternoon. In the evening you there will be adeparture party ashore with buffet and drinks included.
Days 2,3 & 4: Jan 6th/7th/8th
Let the adventure begin! We'll depart for Port Blair. Upon arrival at Port Blair, we'll get to go through more immigration formalities. Having successfully endured the immigration formalities, we'll throw another party on the evening of the 8th.
Kayaks used for our guided trips are "Phuket Pelican 3.9 metre kayaks". They are a fully equipped ocean touring kayaks with adjustable foot rests, knee pads, cushioned seat with fixed cushioned backrest, two watertight bulkheads with storages hatches for and aft with added storage behind the cockpit seat, forward towing ring / carrying strap, aft carrying strap, elastic cord tied downs on deck and a neoprene spray skirt.
They are custom designed for storage aboard our catamarans .
Day 5: 9th
We'll sail to Havelock Island stopping at Beach Number Seven. This beach is approximately 26 miles from Port Blair. The beach is seven miles long and is embraced by lush tropical jungle that reaches all the way down to the pure white sand beach. Dugongs (sea cows) have been spotted in this area. There is wonderful snorkeling in this area as well. At a beach not too far away, elephants sometimes come down to have a swim accompanied by the Mahouts.
Of course once we arrive, we'll go for a paddle along western shores. Stopping from time to time, we'll admire the wonderful hardwood jungle.
We'll have dinner either aboard our yacht or at one of the local restaurants.
Day 6: 10th
We'll explore Havelock's north western shores and work our way to the main township at Beach Number One. Here, we'll have a chance to see elephants working with their Mahouts, rolling logs into the water. And of course, we'll get to explore the area by kayak.
Day 7: 11th
We'll depart for Homfray Strait. This is certainly one of the big treats on this journey. Primitive villages line both shores. The strait is over five miles long, the perfect ingredients for a lovely day's paddling. Don't worry if this seems too long to paddle. We'll have the option of anchoring part way for the night in the strait. Few people have had the pleasure of spending the night in such a stunning area.
Day 8: 12th
We'll continue along the strait to the western exit. There is a very good possibility of seeing primitive Jawawa tribes people on the shores. The Jawawa are a pygmy race thought to have come from Africa. No one is actually sure. They are protected and contact is forbidden. Landing on the northern shore is also forbidden as it is a reserve. The Jawawa are hunter gatherers and do not use fire and have no cooking utensils.
Day 9: 13th
We'll head north on the western shores of Middle Andaman Island navigating amongst shoals and reefs to Flat Island and surrounds. We'll do some exploring ashore. Following that, we'll journey onwards to Interview Island for the evening anchorage.
Day 10:14th
We'll continue further north to Reef Island and exploring the pristine shores with rain forest down to the beaches edge. You can go snorkeling over untouched coral. We'll anchor here for the night. Perhaps some of us might want to go for a night snorkel.
Please note that whilst on the western shores of the Andamans it will be most unlikely to see anyone for all the time spent there. Very few (if any) boats visit the area. Interview Island is the only inhabited island having a Navy security outpost there with radio equipment.
Day 11: 15th
This day will be spent transverse Euston Strait to the town of Mayabunda on the Eastern side of The Andamans. Then, we'll do an overnight sail back to Port Blair in order to be there by the 16th for shopping and afternoon checkout by customs and immigration.
Day 12: 16th
You can do some shopping around Port Blair Harbor and/or paddle around a bit. Then, it's time to clear Customs and Immigration. We'll throw another bit party ashore in the evening.
Day 13: 17th
Depart Port Blair at 10.00 AM and start the return journey to Phuket. You can do some fishing along the way if you wish. There is a good chance of catching tuna or mackerel along the way.
Days 14 & 15:18th/19th
We'll sail back to Phuket. On arrival, we'll clear immigration and customs.
